What to do at Tertulia and surroundings

Mugello is an area of Tuscany in the province of Florence which has characteristics of very strong naturalness: the proportion between wild and cultivated here is really well balanced given the extent of Woods and forests as far as the eye. An ideal place for lovers of nature and genuine flavours (we know many local producers who work with passion and family size with cheeses, meats, vegetables, juices). There are many walks through the Apennine ridges and one can even start walking right by Tertulia! For fans there are mountain biking, horseback, challenging climbs to do by bike. From here you can reach Florence by train and by car (1 hour journey) and by car you can visit during the day many of the most beautiful places in Tuscany (Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Lucca, etc) for cultural excursions always interesting. Don’t miss finally the typical Mugello dish: tortelli di patate (with tomato duck sauce!). And then, the days of rest in nature to relax between activities (and if you have kids they will soon settle in and play freely exploring and having fun!)
Sounds and rhythmes of nature
Tertulia is surrounded by chestnut trees, Oaks, olive trees. At Tertulia, one is struck by the silence: or rather, by the sounds of nature, the wind, the rustle of leaves and grass, the birds, the chirping of crickets and cicadas. Staring into the night a dimension of natural quiet for a rest really invigorating. The full moon with his nights bright or experience new moon nights with the pitch and incredible starry is a unique experience for those who live in the city. The spectacle of nature never ends: the morning dew, mist top views over the Valley (looks like a ‘ sea of fog ‘), spectacular sunsets, the approach of rain-laden clouds, a rainbow after the storm, clear days and the warm sun that caresses, the summer breeze that cools the afternoons and evenings, the colors and scents of wild flowers , the woods with the undergrowth is rich in mushrooms and intense and delicious smells, the sight of wildlife like hawks, deer, porcupines, wild boars, badgers, hedgehogs, deer’s mating season, the deep red color of leaves in the fall, the spectacle of Virgin snow where no one has walked (except for some animal) and the winter landscape.
Some special trips are those to waterways: near Tertulia you can find rivers with great pools where you can swim, not far away there is the Bilancino Lake where you can go sailing or canoeing and not to be missed is the waterfall of Acquacheta, a drive towards the famous the Muraglione pass!
Sports lovers
From Tertulia you can take beautiful walks in the Woods from the mountains of the Apennines, on foot or by mountain bike (there is a possibility to rent bicycles directly from Tertulia). Who is passionate about cycle-tourism will find paths for everyone: the Mugello in bike site is a collection of beautiful trails and itineraries to be faced with the possibility of recording the passage at key points and complete the grand tour of Mugello with a patent. Horseback riding is another option for those who like to explore nature: there are several riding stables a few kilometers from Tertulia. For anyone who loves special things: in Mugello there is also the possibility of gliding, glider or at the aeroclub volvovelistico! Finally the famous Mugello circuit at Scarperia, hosting race of the Motogp World Championship and numerous sporting events.
Arts, City of art, events, trivia
Florence is only 35 km and during the day you can also make visits to Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano and many of the most charming places of Tuscany, all easily reached by train.

Did you know that Giotto was born in Vicchio? And also the Beato Angelico?
We want to point out some special appointments: in Vicchio, Giotto Jazz Festival is held in the spring date of recall for Jazz aficionados for over 15 years and in summer free entry Festival Etnica with very special concerts, street performers, theme dinners! A traditional fair is held at the end of August, hot instead of Vicchio. We are also in contact with the Club 12 March at caselle (village of Vicchio in 15 min from Tertulia) where a group of people very motivated offers meetings, themed nights, dinners, with attention to local and organic produce, very popular.
In Florence in May is held instead Terra Futura fair who is committed to building a sustainable future and more fair for everyone.
Not to be missed in the collection period of Chestnut Marrone del Mugello the many fairs and festivals themed around the Mugello!
In Mugello you can taste traditional potato tortelli (we recommend some places to eat them!) and chestnut season offers many special theme parties based on chestnuts and chestnut flour. We have contacts with peasant producers of vegetables, cheese and meat that work in harmony with nature and get really great results!
We can also recommend some specific niches that we discovered in Florence (vegetarian possibly mindful of the origin of food) in recent years.
